    Requirements

     Minimum Requirements & Key Skills:

    A professional qualification in a related field is an added advantage;

S/he brings strong analytical and quantitative skills, research capacity (typically in costing, health financing and program analysis) as well as a solid understanding of the design, implementation, and evaluation of health financing policy reform.
    ThinkWell works with the Ministry of Health (MoH), the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) the Council of Governors (CoG) and 10 Counties on healthcare financing reforms with the potential to accelerate achievement of UHC. The TA facilitates discussions, shares evidence, and proposes ideas with these government agencies/departments and other stakeholders to optimize the health financing function and related processes to promote strategic purchasing for primary health services in Kenya. The TA has experience providing technical advisory services at the national and county level and the political skills necessary to manage a range of national- and county-level partnerships.
    The TA is a senior member of the team and is expected to supervise a team of 2-4 Program Analysts/Coordinators. This position is based in Nairobi and reports to the Country Program Manager.

    Technical Leadership

    Develop strategic interventions to ensure effective delivery of technical assistance to government (National and County) on health financing reforms.

    Participate in WFP evaluation community webinars or meetings and contribute to the sharing of experience and development of good practices.
    Support WFP collaboration with counterparts from other UN organizations, Government institutions, academia as well as professional evaluation bodies to engage in discussing common Evaluation issues and contribute towards development of theory and practice. This includes engagement with the United Nations Network of Evaluators in Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Others

    Contributing to Evaluation Function Reporting requirements (e.g. Annual Evaluation Report, annual RBN e-book), including by analysing basic data from the Evaluation MIS, summarizing inputs from Regional Evaluation Unit team members, and ensuring all information is submitted on time.
    Contribute to reviewing Annual Country Reports from the Evaluation perspective
    Support and contribute to the planning and implementation of Evaluation Workshops (annual), and evaluation contributions to other regional workshops and events

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    Education:

    First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses or Advanced University degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Economics, International Development, Economics, Monitoring and evaluation or other relevant field. Experience within Monitoring and Evaluation desired.

    Experience:

    Minimum of six years of progressively responsible relevant professional work experience in international development or humanitarian work.
    Strong experience using a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical tools and methods, as well as knowledge management.
    Experience within monitoring and evaluation, especially supporting and/or directly managing evaluations is desired
    Previous experience in humanitarian or development contexts will be an asset.

    Knowledge & Skills:

    Ability to work in a team, establish effective working relations with persons of different cultural backgrounds.
    Strong knowledge management understanding and skills, including information management and communication
    Ability to analyze and interpret a variety of quantitative and qualitative data
    Knowledge of WFP evaluation policy, procedures, and requirements

    Languages:

    Job Summary
    The Veterinarian is responsible for dog health and general welfare which includes diagnosing and ensuring sick or injured dogs receive treatment. The incumbent is responsible for the day to day health management of the company dogs cost effectively.
    Key Responsibilities

    Examine dogs to diagnose the nature of disease or injury for prompt treatment
    Inspect dogs and test for diseases and inoculate against diseases, disorders or communicable diseases.
    Establish and conduct quarantine and testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals or to humans, and that comply with applicable government regulations.
    Inoculate against various diseases and Collect body tissue samples, stool, blood, urine, or other body fluid samples for examination and analysis.
    Train and supervise dog handlers and Kennel assistants on basic health, feeding, and general care to promote health and welfare of Dogs.
    Inspect and monitor Dog kennels and surrounding areas to ensure hygienic standards are adhered to at all times
    Manage the breeding program to support the required number of dogs for operational needs.
    Train Kennel in charge supervisors and dog masters on Proper storage of dog food, dispatch, recording and Quality control measures over the course of dog food supply to all the kennels
    Conduct dog food trials for new dog food samples to determine quality levels
    Provide guidance to kennel assistants on proper feeding and watering of dogs
    Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements locally and globally in health care and welfare of Dogs. Advise on legal requirements whenever legislation changes and when dog teams are required to be transferred to other regions.
    Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and animal records; report diseases to public health officials as necessary
    Ensure post-mortem is carried out after a dog fatality to investigate cause of death and advice on preventive measures where necessary
    Conduct regular research on diseases to which animals could be susceptible. Train dog handlers & Kennel assistants on diseases that can be spread from animals to humans
    Inspect dog equipment to enhance safety of the handler, dog and the general public. This is to ensure that the working environment is conducive for the dogs and staff; and
    Daily management of the veterinary clinic to ensure that it is cost effective. This includes sourcing and managing medical supplies, equipment and staff.

    Accountability
    The Veterinarian is accountable to the K9 Manager Kenya for the responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

    Working knowledge and experience in Veterinary internal medicine, soft tissue and Orthopaedics
    Tech Savvy and with basic computer working knowledge.
