    Job Details
    Atkins Kenya business is looking to hire a 3-4 Year experienced Mechanical Engineer for different assignments based in Nairobi, due to visa constraints we are only looking for Kenyan Nationals.
    Duties and Responsibilities

    Carry out engineering design related to the area of academic qualification under general direction of senior engineers.
    Assist in conducting surveys and site investigations to gather field data and design information.
    Assist in project management and coordination roles.
    Perform construction site supervision and assist in contract management.
    Assist in coordinating the activities of the design and construction teams to ensure quality of work and timely delivery of projects.
    Assist in managing project issues, budgets and schedules.
    Prepare and manage project documentation.
    Assist in preparation of tender and contract documents.
    Liaise with external project team members including the Client and attend meetings, as may be directed by senior engineers.
    Carry out Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC), implement and ensure Quality Management System (QMS) is adhered to on projects.
    Provide assistance in bidding, as may be directed by senior engineers.
    May be assigned the role of Project Coordinator, Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE), Inspector of Works, and/or Lead Engineer on projects.
    Any other duties assigned.

    Qualifications
    Bachelors and/or Master of Science (MSC) in the relevant engineering discipline
    Professional

    Registration with relevant engineering bodies, and with ERB as a Graduate Engineer.
    Membership in Professional Societies

    Required Experience
    Must have minimum 4 years or relevant experience in the area of specialization
    Relevant Skills

    Use of computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Ms Project
    Possess knowledge on use of relevant engineering software and applications.
    Engineering design, drawing preparation and checking skills, including knowledge of ACAD.
    People skills including interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

    About the Job
    Based in Bardhere, the Protection Field Officer contributes to the implementation of Protection activities in Jubbaland with a focus on Gedo and other areas as required.
    Job Responsibilities

    Assists the Protection team in documenting and mapping of major conflict-related events with significant Protection of Civilian Population (PCP) implications;
    Identifies and monitors humanitarian needs, priority issues and International Humanitarian Law’s violations in his/her Area of Responsibility (AoR) for further monitoring and follow up and proposes course of action;
    Collects first-hand information from a variety of sources on specific violations/abuses; provides practical guidance and support to the protection team on the PCP issues on the ground;
    Conducts detailed field assessments looking at the needs of the affected populations and the viability of an ICRC intervention on a particular violation;
    Supports detention visits when needed and follows up on the specific issues identified;
    Contributes to daily monitoring of the political, economic and social developments and their impact on the population in AoR;
    Assists in monitoring of important and sensitive public communication;
    Informs and sensitizes field staff, Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) staff, local organisations and local authorities on ICRC Protection activities and other varying issues of interest;
    Provides support to develop and maintain an extended network of contacts among local authorities, parties to the conflict, local leaders, humanitarian organizations and members of civil society;
    Reports regularly on the ongoing activities/projects, develops various departmental reports including multidisciplinary assessments and operational reports;
    Contributes to the definition of the annual objectives and plans of actions in coordination with the rest of the Protection team.

    Main Job Purpose
    To be responsible for driving and reviewing company field mechanization strategies in Unilever Tea Kenya plantations.
    Job Summary

    Responsible for building and reviewing Mechanical Harvesting (MH) strategy
    Responsible for the availability and serviceability of all harvesting and pruning machinery and equipment.
    Ensure adherence to all relevant Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and continuously review the procedures as necessary.
    Jointly with quality assurance team, link factory and field to match MH quality of raw material to that of made tea to deliver products to Unilever quality specifications
    Lead initiation and implementation of projects linked to mechanization of field operations like tea harvesting and pruning.
    Provide field technology advisory services to agricultural teams in Unilever Tea Kenya.
    Participate in supplier identification, selection process and approval of relevant documents in mechanization.
    Responsible for field technology assets, equipment and spares stock inventory.
    Responsible for monitoring and evaluation of MH key performance indicators and maintenance of good harvesting in the mechanized fields.
    Explore and advise on available latest field technologies in the market which can deliver competitive cost of production and product quality

    Key Requirements

    Undergraduate degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or any other related subject.
    Experience in handling and managing agricultural harvesting technology and equipment’s will be an added advantage.
    Over 4 years hands on experience in a similar role as per the job requirements stated above.
