    About the role
    We are hiring an Infrastructure Manager to join the IT team.     Duties and Responsibilities

    Actively manage the overall response strategy for IT Infrastructure including Equipment, Data, networks, on-premise and on-cloud risk.
    Organize and manage the available human capital within the department through training, development and proper positioning to ensure optimal productivity and high-value services to internal and external customers by leveraging on synergies and good communication.
    Supervise an IT Support team and work with the development team to support and prioritise feature releases and evaluate any impact or requirements on the associated IT Infrastructure.

    Qualifications

    Degree in IT/Computer Science/Software Engineering/Computing/Business Related fields.
    At least 5 years solid System/Network Admin experience with at least 2 years experience managing IT Infrastructure and support in a medium to large organisation

    General Position Summary
    The Field Technology Testing Advisor focuses on providing technical support and capacity building to Mercy Corps field teams currently piloting three applications of technology:

    Basic Needs Wallet:Testing conditional cash payments using cryptocurrency in Uganda.
    E-Cookers: Testing pay-as-you-cook solar cooker technology in Uganda.
    Borehole Sensors: Testing the use of microsensors for effective community-based water management in Kenya.

    These three internal grants are implemented by country teams, however the advisor is available to support with technical assistance, ranging from procurement and partner selection to monitoring and evaluation plans. At this stage in the lifecycle, all programs are underway, but will need tracking progress and support on data collection and evaluation of the pilot’s aims. As part of the pilot wrap up, the Advisor will also draft reports for internal and external audiences as well as other communications (i.e. conferences, donor presentations, etc.) to share learnings and results.
    Essential Job Responsibilities
    Program Management

    Support cross-functional teams in the implementation of pilot/experimental technology based solutions.
    Ensure program/project implementation is on time, target and budget, using effective M&E systems to reach desired impacts.
    Manage reporting process for completed and in-progress pilot projects in the field.
    Ensure that program implementation is responsive to communities and partners and consistent with Program Management at Mercy Corps (PM@MC) and other relevant principles, values, quality standards and strategy.
    Participate as an active, integrated member of the T4D team providing technical support to a portfolio of field programs including those in complex crisis environments.
    Take leadership in identifying and addressing program quality needs. Collaborate with field leaders to problem solve.

    Finance & Compliance Management

    Maintain accurate knowledge of the grant/funding status at the end of each month, making recommendations to adjust as necessary, but overall ensure Mercy Corps accurate budget compliance.

    Reporting & Communications

    Consolidate results from each pilot– both challenges and successes– into final reports adjusted accordingly for internal and external audiences and in accordance with the Technology for Development communications strategy.
    Contribute to a paper on the learnings of innovation testing at Mercy Corps in consultation with key stakeholders from prior pilots funded by Technology for Development as well as other technology testing initiatives (i.e. FinX)
    Represent Mercy Corps technology testing program externally at conferences, workshops and other events as needed.

    Child Protection Specialist

    Primary Purpose:
    This position is responsible for overseeing the case processing of refugee cases that include minor children in vulnerable situations and/or outside of the nuclear family structure. The Specialist ensures that USRAP standard operating procedures are strictly followed and that processing decisions are in the best interest of the minor. This position works closely with the field teams and Programs management.
    Essential Duties:

    Provides training to RSC staff on minor case processing, minor counselling, child friendly interviewing techniques, and analysis of the BID.
    Assist the Protection Manager in development, updating and implementation of standard operating procedures for minor processing.
    Supervise case and pipeline management undertaken by the Protection Unit, focusing on minor caseloads including, unaccompanied minors, and other minor cases with protection concerns. Monitor protection reports to identify urgent minor cases and to move cases more quickly through the pipeline.
    Monitors weekly minor reports to identify urgent cases and to move cases more quickly through the USRAP pipeline through effective case management and pipeline management.
    Liaises with UNHCR, PRM, CIS, RPC and RAs on issues related to minors.
    Represents RSC Africa at Nairobi BID panels and provides technical expertise and training to partners on USRAP minor case processing
    Determines, in conjunction with other partners, the best resettlement options for all minors. When necessary, counsel’s minors (and their non-parent guardians) about the various resettlement options available, the realities of life in the US, and benefits of the refugee foster care program, etc.
    Develop and deliver training on protection case processing, including: interviewing minors, completion of minor counselling and the minor questionnaire, analysis of Best Interest Determinations (BIDs), and age appropriate interview techniques.
    Conduct regular training to UNHCR and other referring agencies on USRAP Minor processing.
    Serves as focal point and provides technical expertise for travelling teams during circuit rides, and office based Program staff regarding minor processing.
    Ensures the completion and quality of all minor questionnaires through regular review and feedback.**
    When the child is at immediate risk, coordinates with other partners to ensure appropriate action is taken.
    Review, update and draft regular reports and analysis and submits quantitative and qualitative data from a wide range of sources.

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Working knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.
