    Job Description

    Contribute in designing and implementation of digitally enabled and participatory agro-climate services by leveraging the previous expertise of the Alliance in Africa and other regions. This will require first understanding the different approaches to climate services at Alliance and elsewhere, documenting the needs of partners and users, and designing project activities that address those needs and build on previous work.
    Advance the area of agro-climate services for the Alliance in Africa, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs, and contributing to coordinating activities across relevant projects.
    Guarantee an effective, efficient, and responsible development and deployment of climate-informed advisory services and develop and test innovative ideas that leverage digital technologies to scale CIS.
    Engage in bilateral fundraising activities in the area of agro-climate services.
    Design and implement training workshops to colleagues and project partners, including for building climate literacy, developing better forecast systems, amongst others. 
    Continue to build and nurture key partnerships in Africa with key partners including Meteorological Services, Digital Partners, Farmer Organizations, and other CGIAR centers.
    Contribute to technical discussions with partners and develop roadmaps for CIS activity implementation.
    Coordinate activities internally at the Alliance and CGIAR, and stay up to date on activities of key partners (e.g., IRI), as well as on new methods and approaches to CIS
    Contribute and lead reporting, and scientific paper writing.

    Requirements

    PhD/Masters level studies (on agriculture, climate sciences, agrometeorology, or related fields), and demonstrated experience of at least 2 years (for PhD) or 5 years (for Masters) working in the field of CIS.
    Extensive experience, training, and knowledge in agrometeorology, climate science, and/or climate services for agriculture.
    Experience in the design and application of participatory methods for CIS needs assessment, and CIS design and implementation at the field scale.
    Experience in designing and deploying CIS systems either through participatory, or digital means, or both. Working knowledge of seasonal forecast tools such as NextGen is a plus.
    Extensive experience of handling and processing gridded weather and climate data.
    Experience working with partners from academia, NGOs, CGIAR centers, and meteorological services
    Knowledge and experience on climate prediction and/or on the use of climate predictions to inform decision making.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. French would be a plus.
    Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts and work with stakeholders (both internally and externally) with emphasis in CIS
    Experience working in an international context and interacting with stakeholders across disciplines and (desirably) countries.

    In this capacity, the professional will:

    Lead a team of Oracle DBAs to offer enterprise database consultancy to clients in a way that  ensures integrity, performance, and reliability.
    Coordinate activities performed by the team, track, and report on team activities, define and document team processes, troubleshoot escalated issues and will be hands-on in operational
    Apps and Core DBA tasks which involves database monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery, installation, maintenance, and disaster recovery for Oracle EBS and Database.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Lead other Oracle DBAs in the execution of assigned projects.
    Defining, documenting, and maintaining Oracle DBA team processes.
    Reporting to the Head of Technical Operations on the Oracle DBA projects and team activities
    Installation, configuration, upgrading, administrating, monitoring, troubleshooting, cloning, Patching, Backup and restore of Oracle EBS. Would be responsible for reviewing application/databases, identify performance bottlenecks and fixing those.
    Resolving complex issues involving database performance, database capacity, resiliency, stability, replication, and other key aspects of distributed database technology.
    Responsible for physical database design and implementation, database security implementation and monitoring.
    Provides hands on technical expertise, provides senior level technical guidance to staff, project leaders and other teams as necessary.
    Researching and recommending solutions that best meet business needs and enterprise operational requirements for clients.
    Work closely with multiple application development/implementation team(s) to implement and support data-oriented development efforts.
    Good knowledge of OEM & product licensing.

    Required Skills / Experience

    Over 5 years’ experience in Oracle Apps Database Administration with at least 3 years in client facing roles.
    Demonstrable experience in Oracle Database and EBS upgrades from 11g/12c to 19c.
    2+ years of direct IT experience supporting database environments on a UNIX/Solaris platform
    Minimum of Oracle Database Certified Professional (OCP).
    Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or other Information Technology related major.
    Experience with features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), ASM and Active Data Guard, WebLogic, etc.
    Ability to successfully manage/lead a team of technical IT resources with demonstrated progression of increased scope and complexity.
    Proficiency with working with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS outlook.
    Capable of understanding the technical aspects of a complex system
    Strong technical troubleshooting skills and problem solving. Demonstrates the ability to think through situations outside the norm and develop appropriate solutions for isolating the root cause.
    Must have excellent communication skills and a passion for providing world-class service.
    Must be able to work independently as well as with others, as part of a domestic and international team.
    Excellent time management, decision making, prioritization and organization skills.
    Good knowledge in Oracle database/E Business suite architecture and components.
    Good knowledge of PLSQL, and SQL
    Ability to fine tune the concurrent processing in large EBS environment.

    Undertake the inception phase of the review, including:

    Conduct project desk review and collate information from the project teams
    Draft the reconstructed Theory of Change of the project
    Prepare the Terminal Review framework
    Develop the desk review and interview protocols
    Draft the survey protocols
    Plan the Terminal Review schedule
    Prepare the inception report for review to be approved by the Climate Change Mitigation Unit

    Coordination of the data collection and analysis phase of the Terminal Review, including:

    Conduct further desk review and in-depth interviews with project implementing and executing agencies, project partners and stakeholders of the project Information collection, surveys, data analysis
    Regularly report back to the Climate Change Mitigation Unit on progress.

    Coordination of the reporting phase, including:

    Prepare presentation on preliminary findings
    Draft Main Terminal Review report ensuring it is consistent with guidelines provide both in substance and style
    Liaise with the UNEP Climate Change Mitigation Unit on comments received and ensure that
    Comments are taken into account during finalization of the Main Terminal Review report and approved
    Prepare a Response to Comments annex for the main report, listing those comments not accepted and indicating the reason for their rejection.

    Managing internal and external relations of the review team, including:

    Maintain a positive relationship with stakeholders, ensuring that the project review process is as participatory as possible but at the same time maintains its independence.
    Communicate in a timely manner with the UNEP Climate Change Mitigation Office on any issues requiring its attention and intervention.
    The review consultant will be selected and recruited by the UNEP Climate Change Mitigation Office through an individual Special Service Agreement (SSA) consultancy contract.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Advanced university degree (i.e. master’s degree or higher) in management, business administration, economics, engineering, energy or other relevant area with five years’ experience is required. A first level degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience maybe accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree
    Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on technical aspects of development projects in the environmental / climate change sector in Africa is required;
    Minimum 5 years of experience in the evaluation and monitoring of development projects in developing countries is required;
    Experience in working with national governments in Africa or developing countries is required;

    Languages
    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency (both oral and written) in English is required.

    The post of the Communications and Fundraising Officer reports to and assists the Programmes and Development Manager and is accountable to the Executive Director. The post holder will focus upon delivering the outcomes in the Communications and Fundraising Plan alongside other Programme staff. He/She will be proactively involved in a range of communications and fundraising activities including organising events, building relationships with donors, maintaining donor data and communications.
    Key Responsibilities: 

    Develop engaging content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter,Instagram to communicate strategic messaging, advocate with, and influence stakeholders as well as increase outreach with targeted, new audiences.
    Work closely with the media and communications team to write, edit, design and distribute content, including case studies, press releases, website content, annual reports, fundraising posters/leaflets and other marketing material that communicates the organisation’s activities.
    Work with the Programmes and Development Manager to develop creative fundraising strategies including events-based activities
    Support donor engagement activities which include presentation to donors, timely acknowledgements of donations,sending thank you cards and preparation of donor reports
    Map out potential donors locally and internationally and contribute to bid writing for grant applications
    Maintain fundraising database and relevant documents
    Contribute to visual and digital communications, including photo gathering and editing, during Tushinde events and field visits.
    Support capacity building of the Tushinde Children’s Trust team in effective communication and fundraising strategies

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, development studies or related field.
    Minimum of 2-5 years’ relevant experience in a communications/Fundraising role.
    Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).
    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
    Good time management and organizational skills.

    Your Responsibilities

    Act as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders for all topics related to the usage of operational systems in their geographical area of responsibility. Provide functional and organizational guidance to local systems managers.
    Set up and maintain support structures via 1st level support teams in Global Service (GS) to ensure uninterrupted availability of the operational systems to Air Logistics staff and, if necessary, help 1st level teams with expert knowledge.

    Directing support to users, whenever required.
