    Duties and Responsibilities

    Functions: 

    Design and develop programme strategies in the areas of Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action:

    Design and formulate programme/ project proposals and initiatives on Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action;
    Provide technical inputs to programme proposals for Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action;

    Identify capacity building needs of partners and lead the coordination of technical assistance, mentoring, training, and capacity development initiatives to partners.

    Manage the monitoring and reporting of the programme/ project:

    Manage the monitoring of programme/ project implementation and finances using results-based management tools;
    Oversee field missions and review reports on monitoring missions;
    Write quarterly reports and donor reports, focusing on results, output and outcomes;
    Contribute to office donor and UN Women reports.

    Lead the team and manage financial resources of the Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action programme:

    Manage the programme budget and draft financial reports;
    Supervise the Women, Peace and security and humanitarian team; Mentor and coach personnel and conduct performance assessments;
    Ensure effective Team-Leadership and overall direction and management of the WPS – Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) portfolio and provide cross-cutting advice on coherence with other programmes;
    Oversee recruitment processes as necessary.

    Build partnerships and resource mobilization for Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action programme:

    Develop and implement partnerships and resource mobilization strategies;
    Finalize relevant documentation on donors and potential opportunities for resource mobilization;
    Analyze and research information on donors, prepare substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for cost sharing.

    Contribute to inter-agency coordination on Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian action to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners in Kenya:

    Provide technical support to the Representative and Deputy Representative on inter-agency coordination related activities by attending meetings, events, and participating in groups and committees as needed;
    Coordinate with other UN agencies, government departments, donors, and NGOs to ensure the projects’ capacity development programme is harmonized and aligned with other in-country efforts.

    Manage advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts:

    Develop and review background documents, briefs and presentations related to Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action;
    Represent UN Women in meetings and policy dialogues on issues related to Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action as necessary;
    Develop advocacy strategies and oversee their implementation;

    Position Summary: 

    Help IAVI translate science into global health impact as a Clinical Trial Manager!
    IAVI is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Trial Manager to oversee and execute day-to-day operational activities for the conduct of clinical trials according to ICH/GCP and relevant regulatory guidelines. The CTM will lead clinical operations of early and late phase clinical trials, mentor other clinical operations staff, contributing to clinical operations process improvement.

    When assigned a trial with a Clinical Operations Specialist (COS), delegate clearly defined clinical trial management activities to the COS and ensure deliverables are met with appropriate timeliness and quality.  Mentor and provide training to the COS as needed.
    Contribute to the Clinical Development (CD) departmental Standard Operating Procedures for conduct of clinical trials based on IAVI templates and ensures adherence to regulations/guidelines for GCP. When applicable is a member of the CD SOP task force.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

    Education and Work Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or other relevant field is required; an advanced degree in relevant field is preferred.
    Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in clinical trial operations, including at least 2 years in clinical trial management or equivalent experience at study sponsor or CRO is required.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    Expert knowledge of clinical research operations, Good Documentation Practices, ICH GCP, FDA CFR and other relevant regulations as well as Declaration of Helsinki and relevant country-specific regulations is required.

    Responsibilities

    Content and activity implementation:

     Plan and implement content and activities against the internal communication strategy and defined objectives and targets, tracking progress on the status of strategy implementation and resource mobilization;
     Work in close coordination with all UNEP offices, divisions, regions, and associates.

    Strategy implementation:

     Implement, monitor, and revise an internal communication strategy for UNEP, undertaking broad consultation with stakeholders as required, and advising and ensuring appropriate tools and channels are used throughout the organization in accordance with appropriate governance/guidance.

    Event production and communication support:

     Support the planning and execution of UNEP events, within and beyond the division;
     Perform the function of a communication officer and undertake other duties as assigned and when required;

    Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
