To enhance young people’s confidence, participation and involvement in climate and environmental justice in order to make them responsible citizens, to put leaders to account, to build a regional/international network of youth and young adults in order to influence policy issues.
Main duties
Support and Administration
The Youth Support will work on part time basis to support the Community Manager with the space
Together with the Community Manager the Youth Team Lead, Volunteer Coordinator and Youth Support will develop, plan and implement the content and programs.
The Youth Team Lead will be responsible for social media, organizing events, workshops, skill shares and supporting grassroots.
Provide support to the existing climate movement, local groups, initiatives and social justice groups by hosting and organising events, trainings, workshops, and skillshares.
Communication
Regularly check email inbox and reply to all email’s enquiries and drop-in enquiries
Serve as the primary point of contact for youth participants, parents, and community partners.
Ensure that events run smoothly by managing logistics, resources, and schedules.
Address any concerns or challenges faced by youth, offering support as needed.
Collect and analyze feedback from participants to assess program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure that all programs adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
Filing and Record keeping
Maintain accurate records of participant information, program activities, and attendance.
Manage, record and schedule all bookable space
Keep records of all items with the Hub and give a detailed report (e.g. stationery, tools etc)
Perform any other duty assigned to you by the Community manager
Qualifications and Experience
A National Diploma or Matric Certificate
Experience in youth engagement and movements, community development or advocacy
Experience in conducting training both online and physical
Technologically savvy, with the ability to transfer knowledge in a simple way to young people
Ability to influence and mitigate environmental and climate issues or willingness to learn
Ability to mobilize and manage young people from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrate ability to multitask and work under pressure
Fluency in English and isiZulu is a must.
