Responsibilities
IFDC is a large international organization with operations in more than 20 countries running multiple projects around the themes of plant nutrition, fertilizer access, market systems and agribusiness in agriculture and food systems. The institution is working around 3 main thematic areas: Soil health, market system development, and enabling impacts. The goal of the position papers is to convince and gather knowledge, and new direction to help the program team to bring arguable opinions in IFDC core areas and position the institution at a higher level in the agriculture environment. It will also serve as base documents and help ensure that IFDC is addressing key components.
The papers will be developed on the basis of initial consultative research with staff experts, online research, and a detailed review of key documents produced by staff. The final version of the papers will be submitted to the expert staff panels and subsequently incorporated into the institutional knowledge repository. The series of webinars will be conducted, and final reports will serve as resources to guide our research and development approaches.
The specific objectives and their respective tasks are:
To prepare four position papers on specified topics in consultation with the VP of Programs and Department Directors.
Soil health:
Status of soil health in the world
Enabling impact
Best practices to enable impacts
Process:
Reviewing the material shared by staff experts (Step 1)
Reviewing other relevant institutional material (Step 2)
Authoring the draft paper document according to the outline template (Step 3)
Submitting the draft paper for feedback to staff experts and incorporating their feedback (Step 4)
Submitting the updated draft paper (Step 5)
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural economics, Rural Development, or a closely related field
At least 3 years experience in an academic, research, or development environment
Excellent writing skills in English
Excellent writing skills in French
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
