Responsibilities
To develop technical expertise in all areas of fleet maintenance and repair through continuous improvement. Provide technical advice to mechanics, Fleet officers, and the Logistics Manager.
To ensure that daily workshop functions operate in an effective, flexible, and customer-focused manner and comply fully with SLA and contract requirements.
Liaise with mechanics and drivers and ensure the provision of feedback service and update key performance indicators.
Develop workshop maintenance budget and ensure same is adhered to.
Take advantage of the workshop activities that can help in generating revenue for the company.
To be in charge of the entire fleet, ensure it’s roadworthy and meets all operational legal requirements.
To ensure that staff training reviews and programs are carried out in line with service needs and staff development requirements.
To generate reports and statics as and when requested by the Logistics Manager.
To provide support to the Logistics Manager.
Liaising with external suppliers to maintain costs, performance, and quality of services provided.
To control systems and documentation to meet quality and environmental standards.
To attend training, shows, meetings, and seminars as required.
Be available and attend emergency calls relating to truck breakdowns and accidents.
Skills & Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in automotive engineering from a recognised institution.
Effective time management skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines
Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled employees engaged in repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
General computer skills
5 years’ work experience repairing and maintaining heavy commercial vehicles.
