Welfare and Safeguarding Manager

The role exists to lead the implementation of Company’s Welfare & Safeguarding strategy, policies, and practices with the overall aim of contributing to the achievement of the mission by ensuring that the highest safeguarding standards are in place throughout all aspects of service delivery.  
The role ensures stakeholders associated with the company implement effective safeguarding and welfare arrangements for the activities they deliver with the company. 
ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Always perform duties with due regard to the Company’s policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
Ensure implementation of the Company’s Welfare, Safeguarding, Wellbeing and Equality policies to create a safe working environment for all.
Ensure working practices are compliant with relevant legislation and data protection legislation and/or general data protection regulations (GDPR) requirements.
Work as an effective team member and in partnership with external agencies
Work with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, and be aware and responsive to the needs of all groups within the community

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the Kenya Welfare & Safeguarding Team in the implementation of Welfare & Safeguarding services in the Kenya business.  
Manage regular reviews of the Company’s operations to ensure they are compliant with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, industry rules/regulations and Company policies and procedures on Welfare & Safeguarding.
Lead programs aimed at cultivating a culture of prevention against child labor, forced labor, discrimination, sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment among other human rights concerns by developing appropriate policies and training modules.
Ensure overall employee wellness in the business by proposing new ideas within company scope to improve overall welfare for employees including mental health and wellbeing programs encompassing counselling services and the Employee Assistance Program.
Support with data gathering for the required safeguarding reports, analysis, and interpretation from a variety of sources to monitor and assess the impact of social sustainability initiatives within the business.
Advocate for and lead social infrastructure developments within the company including the Village & Schools Improvement Program, ECD and Day Care Centers among others. 
Work with the Head of ESG and key safeguarding stakeholders to prepare and coordinate Welfare & Safeguarding Campaigns
Prepare and review reports, manage information, and share data on the number and type of concerns and allegations and lessons learned to improve welfare & safeguarding.
Work closely with the company leadership to develop and co-ordinate the implementation of training programs to employees and dependents on policies relating to Human Rights, Mental Health, Gender, Safeguarding etc to promote a safe and secure environment for employees and dependents. 
Link between the employees, dependents, and eTK providing professional, objective/confidential SGBV response, ensuring consistent availability, promptly responding to emerging needs within the business. 
In collaboration with other internal stakeholders, monitor the company’s grievance mechanisms e.g.  the Dignity & Gender Enhancement Committee (DGEC) agenda in respective units. 
Responsible for keeping accurate and detailed records of welfare & safeguarding incidents, investigations, and interventions. This may involve maintaining a database, documenting actions taken, and producing regular reports for senior management. 
Ensure welfare expenditure is in line with the provided budget. Participate in the preparation of company welfare budgets & performance.
Participate in and provide updates to the Kenya Leadership Team as the Welfare and Safeguarding department’s representative.
Coach and implement other relevant development plans for the Welfare and Safeguarding officers to equip them with the necessary skills and competencies to meet the current and future requirements for their roles.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

Degree/ in Psychology, Gender, Development Studies, Social work, Community Development, Social Sustainability, Human Rights, or any other related Social Science
Experience/working knowledge of SGBV, Safeguarding, Women Empowerment & Child Protection.
Psychology qualification and demonstrated experience in counselling especially SGBV related issues.
Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly through email, phone, and in meetings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Strong communication skills (verbal and listening) and ability to establish collaborative relationships. 
Resilient under pressure, excellent organization skills and an ability to prioritize effectively.
Excellent IT and record keeping skills.
High level of integrity & capacity to handle confidential data/information sensitively.

Experience of working within a similar role
