The selected warehouse supervisor must be able to:
Ensure that workplace health and safety requirements are met and will take responsibility for the security of the building and stock. Especially the ongoing temperature monitoring during inbound, storage, outbound and delivery.
Take all necessary steps to avoid any losses of stock and ensure correct stock rotation systems are adhered to.
Plan the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organize special requirements for a certain stock, such as chilled goods or fragile products.
Following the best practice for Food Handling and especially the Outbound on FEFO procedures
Ensure productivity targets are met and maintain computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems.
Manage his team of workers and deal with their personnel issues such as analyzing their training requirements, the discipline of staff. He will also be responsible for bringing to the notice of the HR department about the recruitments for his department.
Oversee picking, packing and distribution activity.
Identify the training requirements of his department and also provide training to his staff and monitoring their performance and progress.
Oversee stock control and stock checks, order processing, including the monthly stock record reports.
Carry out responsibilities for the use of automated and computerized systems.
Brief the team leaders on the issues for each day.
Ensure the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment.
Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment of the warehouse.
The ideal candidate should possess:
Forklift operators licence
Computer literacy
Be physically fit as some lifting is required
Good communication skills are essential (verbal and written)
Customer service experience
Good time management skills
Able to advise and influence colleagues regarding best food stores practice
Deep knowledge in Food handling and storage best practices
Proactive Customer service approach
The preferred qualification and experience are:
Sound knowledge in all aspects of warehouse management or Industry Standard
Qualifications for Food Warehouse Operation
Educational background at least up to Diploma level.
Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory position with adequate exposure to modern warehousing environment.
Exposure to an ERP system pertaining to warehousing. (Such as WMS)
