What Awaits You?

As a Retina Fellow, you’ll work closely with the esteemed Retina Faculty, functioning as an integral part of the “Retina Team” responsible for the medical and surgical management of our diverse patient base. From retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) to diabetic and other vascular retinopathies,, inflammatory and infectious vitreoretinal disorders, age-related macular degeneration, retinal dystrophies, retinal tears and detachments, proliferative vitreoretinopathies, ocular trauma, intraocular foreign bodies, and more – you’ll gain handson experience with a wide spectrum of vitreoretinal diseases.

Program Overview
Fellow Slots: There are 2 available slots for the 2024-2025 Fellowship year.
Work Hours: Scheduled hospital obligations typically extend from 7 am to 7 pm daily.
Vacation: Fellows enjoy a two-week vacation in each year of the fellowship and 5 day conference leave including traveling.

First Year Focus The primary focus of the first year of the fellowship program is mastering the medical retina while developing the essential foundations of the surgical retina. The year is divided into four rotations, with each fellow rotating weekly. During this phase, you’ll become proficient in performing office-based procedures, including focal and pan-retinal photocoagulation, laser retinopexy, intravitreal injections, and pneumatic retinopexy.
Attending supervision and guidance are provided for every patient encounter, ensuring a strong learning experience. Fellows will also have the opportunity to rotate in all our clinics, collaborating closely with each CEH Retina faculty member.
Second Half-Year Focus The second half-year of the fellowship program is dedicated to delving into the intricacies of surgical retina. This intensive and immersive surgical curriculum involves fellows operating on surgical cases three to four days a week. . With personalized one-on-one surgical mentorship, you’ll rapidly gain skills and experience across a broad range of vitreoretinal procedures.
