Vice Principal Residential Life

Responsibilities

Assist in developing the ethos and culture of Residential Life to align with the school’s vision and mission.
Actively support the HoRL in implementing long-term strategies for managing residences.
Provide input into the planning and execution of residential activities programs.
Monitor and ensure the welfare, safety, discipline, and pastoral well-being of residential students under guidance from the HoRL.
Support new student inductions and ensure their smooth integration into residential life.
Assist in identifying individual student needs and ensuring appropriate support mechanisms are in place.
Promote safeguarding practices among residential staff and ensure compliance with child protection guidelines.
Assist in supervising Heads of Residential Blocks to ensure consistent implementation of policies.
Provide training, development, and induction support for residential staff as directed by the HoRL.
Collaborate with HoRL in planning staff supervision rotas and ensuring adequate coverage during absences.
Chair meetings with residential staff or students as delegated by the HoRL to gather feedback or address concerns.
Help organize evening/weekend activities, trips, and events in coordination with relevant staff members.
Ensure maintenance requests are communicated effectively to relevant departments for timely resolution.
Assist in maintaining residential policies and literature, including contributing to updates for handbooks.
Support the preparation of reports related to residential life for the Academy’s development plan.
Foster positive relationships with parents/guardians through regular communication as delegated by the HoRL.
Act as a liaison between parents/guardians and Heads of Residential Blocks regarding student progress or concerns.

The requirements

Teaching Certification required.
Experience as a classroom practitioner within an inquiry-based program preferred.
Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a residential program at an international setup.
Child Protection and Safeguarding trained.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a diverse community.
Attention to detail, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive matters.
This position provides critical support to ensure smooth operations within residential life while fostering a nurturing environment for students aligned with the school’s mission.
