Reports to: Administration Manager
Job Summary
Reporting to the Administration Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting security checks against potential employees. The role involves developing and managing any vetting procedures undertaking assessments and deciding on risks associated with any application for employment. You will also be required to assist in investigations.
Requirements
Experience of working with confidential and / or sensitive information.
A minimum of 3 years experience working in the security industry.
Must be able to act in the strictest confidence
Strong analytical skills along with good interviewing and interrogation skills
Honest and ethical with high levels of integrity and confidentiality
Degree or diploma in criminology or relevant field
Able to maintain a professional relationship with people in adversarial circumstances.
Able to identify and evaluate risks, and to take appropriate, proportionate action.
Good communication skills with the ability to listen to others.
Hands-on experience with crime scenes analysis and forensic science
Proficient in interpreting evidence and reconstructing events
Ability to observe minute details and to produce detailed reports
In depth knowledge of criminal law, rules and legislation
Thorough understanding of the investigation process and the unique circumstances of each case
Able to appropriately prioritize and plan own work.
Key Responsibilities
To act as the company’s first point of reference for all vetting issues.
Carry out the full range of checks specified in the company’s vetting policy, to ensure that all relevant information is obtained.
Identify potential vulnerabilities and any matters relating to an applicant’s suitability for employment
Conduct interviews with candidates, where necessary to clarify information, to ensure that vetting decisions are based on an appropriate understanding of that information.
Prepare vetting reports to the highest standard, to recommend employment, escalate more contentious cases, or to set out the reasons for refusal together with the relevant evidence in line with company policy.
Maintain full records of vetting activities and decisions made, to ensure that decisions are transparent and open to audit and review.
Assist in the investigation process by visiting incident scenes by performing scene recognition, scene documentation and evidence collection
Thoroughly document scenes and take photographs and record statements.
Conduct interviews to obtain information useful in resolving the cases
Examine and evaluate evidence for conflicting interpretations and resolve issues
Prepare detailed investigative reports.
