Vehicle Inspector

As a member of the Occupational Health, Safety and Training team you will report to the Occupational Health and Safety Superintendent and you will be responsible for inspection of all BTL and contractor’s mobile equipment on all BTL sites, ensuring that mobile equipment used on all BTL sites are in a safe operational and mechanical order.

The main duties will include but are not limited to:

Ensuring that all mobile equipment is in a safe operating condition
Ensuring that unsafe equipment is tagged out and not used until faults are remedied
Ensuring daily driver pre-start inspections are performed on all equipment, reviewing documents regularly and ensuring that defects highlighted are remedied in a timely manner
Ensuring drivers and operators of contractor vehicles and equipment hold appropriate licenses to operate
Participating and/or carrying out incident investigations when needed
Maintaining correct inspection documentation, recording and follow up actions in BTL systems
Providing a daily, weekly and monthly report of all equipment inspected
Proactively dealing with equipment issues and maintaining clear verbal and written communication

To succeed you will have:

A minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
A demonstrated commitment to workplace Health, Safety and Environmental practices
At least 8 years post-training experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience dealing with mobile equipment
Sound knowledge of good mechanical or automotive engineering practice
Good auto-electrical knowledge
Excellent communication skills
A demonstrable ability to work in a challenging environment with a multinational workforce
