Unit Supervisor Job Responsibilities
Maintain laboratory QA/QC procedures in the performance of assigned duties.
Lead the quality system unit in the lab and ensure continuous quality management systems implementation.
Ensure that processes needed for QMS are established, implemented and maintained.
Promote awareness of users’ needs and requirements throughout the laboratory and the HIV research branch
Ensure conformance with requirements for applicable regulatory entities (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP, GCLP, etc.)
Lead periodic laboratory QA meetings and ensure timely and appropriate follow-up of action items from these meetings.
Development, implementation and revision of the Quality Management System to ensure it is up to date at any given time.
Planning and carrying out internal audits of the Quality Management system and plan for review process.
Planning, conducting and facilitating quality assurance training workshops and seminars.
Identification and addressing of complaints, non-conformances and corrective actions
Scheduling and organizing management review meetings in consultation with the Laboratory manager
Compilation and distribution performance reports for Management review
Prepare Quarterly Quality Management system report.
Perform any other duties falling within your scope of training that may be assigned by the branch chief or Lab Director
Qualifications for the Unit Supervisor Job
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Community Health or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience in HIV-1 molecular diagnosis including HIV-1 Viral Load testing, early infant diagnosis for HIV infection and HIV genotyping for drug resistance markers.
Proven experience in laboratory quality management system including laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) measures and method validation.
Experience working in a ISO 15189 accredited laboratory for at least 6 years.
Knowledge of laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP) and bio-safety guidelines
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, under pressure and to adhere to set deadlines.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills.
Strong staff development, coaching, and mentoring skills.
