Key Responsibilities
Oversee the underwriting process flows to ensure efficiency as per the company underwriting procedures manual.
Oversee the business document management process to ensure proper storage and easy retrieval of underwriting documents.
Prepare competitive quotations for both new and renewal businesses and dispatch the same within the recommended TAT’s
Supervise, train and mentor underwriting and pricing staff to achieve a high level of motivation and productivity.
Constant review of scheme loss ratios, identification of trends and provide proactive workable solutions to aid in controls to attain the targeted loss ratio for the business
Prepare regular underwriting and operations reports to management, intermediaries and clients and advice on relevant findings for medical risk review.
Provide the necessary support to intermediaries by training them on the medical products and support on premium collection
Liaise with the underwriters, actuarial and business development teams to evaluate products being sold and assist in developing new ones
Supervise scheme setup to ensure timeliness and accuracy
Supervise to ensure prompt debiting and dispatch of debit/credit notes and the renewal/commencement premium schedules to the client/intermediary
Coordinate with outsourced card production vendors on preparation of medical cards for all eligible members in a timely manner.
Review and signing-off of policy documents, dispatch of the same to the relevant clients and ensure follow-up to have copies returned
Supervise service levels and benchmark our customer service standards against the market
Maintaining strong working relationships with Intermediaries, Clients, all departments and all business stakeholders
Work closely with ICT and Business analysts for any decision making on implementation of system requirements and enforcement of controls
Comply with statutory, regulatory and internal control processes including internal & external audits recommendations.
Any other roles assigned by management from time to time

Knowledge & Experience
At least 7 years’ managerial experience in a medical underwriting and pricing insurance environment
Demonstrated knowledge of managing underwriting and pricing operations in a busy insurance company
Addressing operational concerns and issues, monitoring overall customer satisfaction.
Demonstrated experience engaging intermediaries at high level, and experience negotiating claims handling terms with providers
Developing and implementing operational procedures and policies
Academic and Professional Qualifications required
Degree in Actuarial Science/Statistics or Business-Related field
ACII or DIP AIIK or CIM qualifications
Master’s Degree is an added advantage
