Our client in insurance agency is looking to hire a Underwriter & Claims Assistant
Workstation: Nairobi
Job Purpose;
To determine potential clients’ risk factors and to establish the terms of coverage. To set up rules which will result in securing an average proportion of good risks in order to keep average claims cost low and to enable the company to offer insurance at a lower net cost.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Reviewing insurance proposals and seek to improve terms
Properlying Assess and analyze client’s background information
Using professional techniques and strategies to calculate the risk associated with client policies
Reviewing insurance claims and terms to determine the amount to be paid out by the company
Designating and preparing insurance premiums based upon informed judgment and competitor pricing
Organizing meetings with specialists to help determine risk assessment in unique circumstances
Layouting and finalizing insurance policies applying specific terms and conditions as agreed upon by the client
Registering of claims and notifying the insurance company.
Negotiating and defining the specific terms of insurance policies with brokers
Keep detailed records of policies underwritten and decisions made
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
A minimum of 2 years proven insurance underwriting experience
Certificate of proficiency in insurance will be an added advantage
Excellent knowledge of insurance policies
Strong math and analytical skills are essential to complete job requirements successfully
Excellent negotiation and Interpersonal Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
