Technician (Botanical Garden) Lecturer in Philosophy Tutorial Fellow in Experimental Physics

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION OF TECHNICIAN (BOTANICAL GARDEN) – LOCUM
This is a temporary/short term position available for three (3) months.
Academic Qualifications
The candidate must have:

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Botany from a recognized Institution.

 OR

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Science, Landscaping, Horticulture or any other related discipline from an accredited and recognized Institution.

Experience
The candidate must:

Have a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience with proven integrity, independence, innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.
Demonstrate community involvement (e.g. Member of BOG, SMC etc).
Be registered with a relevant professional body.
Experience of working in a higher institution of learning will be an added advantage.

Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the Technician (Botanical Garden) – Locum will include but not limited to:

Plan surveys for enrichment planting of Botanical Garden.
Care for plants in the Botanical Garden.
Record the development and distribution of plant species within the Garden.
Train students to properly care for plants and operate equipment.
Label plants and manage plant inventory.
Manage Plant Nursery and coordinate sale of Nursey plants.
Preparation and submission of periodic reports.
Collect plants and seed for enrichment planting and Nursery establishment.
Collect data on tree survival rate and growth rate.
Co-ordinate tree planting activities.
Write monthly report with data of the above activities.
Preparation of Annual Work Plans and Budgets for submission to Section Head.
Enrichment planting within the Garden.
Guide students and Faculty undertaking practical assignment in the Botanical Garden.
Organize Outreach Educational programmers.
Any other duties as assigned by Section Head.
