Required Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Education (Kiswahili/History or Kiswahili/CRE or Kiswahili/Geography) or its equivalent from an accredited university.
Must be registered with Teacher Service Commission with a TSC Number
KCSE Certificate or its equivalent;
At least two years of teaching experience in a Primary School. For new entrants, no experience is required.
Satisfactory Performance Contract Assessment reports.
Three referees one of whom must be a church pastor.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing lesson plans in accordance with the national curriculum.
Responsible for educating pupils in a fun and engaging manner, marking students’ work and providing them with necessary feedback, encouragement and support.
Teach several subjects of the national curriculum in the school that may including mathematics, English, music, physical education, etc.;
Required to use creative, interactive and engaging teaching methods to encourage pupils to actively participate in classroom activities and develop cognitive, numerical and verbal reasoning skills.
Paying attention to each individual pupil’s progress and evaluate their learning abilities by setting assignments, periodic tests and homework projects.
Take part in events and projects outside of the classroom, such as field trips and sports days.
Attend meetings with other teaching staff, write reports, undertake in-service training and meet with pupils’ parents to discuss their children’s academic progress.
Required to keep up to date on new teaching methods and developments in the curriculum.
Taking responsibility for the progress of each pupil in a class;
Organizing the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment;
Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole class;
Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation and maintaining discipline;
Preparing and marking class work and assignments to facilitate positive pupil development and recording of pupils’ progress;
Providing feedback to parents and guardians on a pupil’s progress
Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Principal.
