Key roles and responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and review of corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax codes.
Conduct comprehensive tax health checks for clients, reviewing financial records and identifying areas of non-compliance or potential tax risks.
Assist clients in handling KRA audits, ensuring adherence to audit timelines and effectively addressing any queries raised by tax authorities.
Assist clients in responding to tax authorities’ inquiries and audits.
Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation for tax filings.
Provide support in the preparation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
Analyse financial statements to identify potential tax issues or opportunities for tax efficiency.
Assist with drafting opinion letters, responses to Revenue Authority inquiries, Revenue Authority’s ruling requests and writing other technical memoranda.
Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in tax planning and compliance.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including audit and advisory teams, to provide integrated solutions to clients.
Assist in developing and implementing tax planning strategies for clients.
Proactively assist the team on various aspects of engagements in the planning and implementation of project activities which include client interviews, computations, analysis, data gathering, and coordination of KPMG and client resources as may be assigned.
Perform the necessary Risk Management and KYC procedures for engagements as requested by senior members.
Assist Senior Associates and Managers with engagement administration and billing.
Build and manage client relationships.
Contribute to thought leadership through writing articles and participating in activities aimed at brand enhancement
Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:
Must have a business-related Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
Professional qualifications e.g., ACCA, CPA are highly desirable.
Professional qualification in Taxation from an accredited college/university will be an added advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and performing internet research.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in tax compliance and advisory within an accounting firm or similar environment.
