Sustainability Associate

Our client, a leading Public Relations and Event Management Company in the region are looking to hire a Sustainability Associate.
Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with Function Heads and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) champions in the development and implementation of the ESG/ sustainability strategy for the business in East African Markets.
Champion the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives in line with our ESG priorities.
Monitor and assess environmental developments including regulatory policies in the ESG space which are related to our sustainability priorities, assess the impact on the business and provide timely, creative, and pragmatic solutions.
Manage relationships and contractual agreements / MoUs with existing strategic partners and steer the engagement /onboarding of the new third-party partners in line with applicable governance guidelines
Coordinate the development of the annual sustainability report both internally and externally, per the required reporting procedures.
Coordinate delivery of the ESG Committee’s mandate
Monitor and track progress in our ESG agenda against set targets and address any gaps with the relevant internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with the communication team and or PR Agency to drive corporate communication objectives with both internal and external stakeholders.
Champion employee participation in relevant sustainability initiatives.
Day-to-day coordination of the strategic implementation of our ESG agenda.

Other Requirements

A Social Science, Business Management, or comparable degree, with professional training in Sustainability / ESG.
At least 7 years experience in a sustainability/development role with at least 5 years in mid-level management.
Knowledge of the global and local sustainability regulatory environment. Knowledge of the GRI standards is an added advantage
Skilled in sustainability partnerships management, project management, monitoring, and reporting processes.
Ability to think laterally and make an effective judgment in the face of ambiguity.
Proactive and tenacious, with unwavering integrity.
Excellent people & relationship management and networking skills.
Strong contextual and commercial acumen.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
