Overall Purpose of the Job
Electrical installation and maintenance works.
Specific Duties
Carry out electrical installation works.
Carry out electrical repairs and maintenance of Electrical distribution panels and boards.
Undertake installation and repair of electrical wirings, lighting systems, fittings, and accessories.
Carry out machine repairs and maintenance of electrical appliances.
Carry out maintenance of solar PV plant equipment.
Repair of refrigerators, cold rooms, and air conditioners.
Inspecting transformers, generators, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
Troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
Maintain record of all campus meters, meter reading for recharges, power fluctuations and water pump operations.
Carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Monthly energy and diesel usage analysis for generators.
Supervision of students on attachment.
Requirements/Qualifications
Diploma in electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.
At least 10 years’ experience in electrical systems and appliances and equipment with at least 3 years on Commercial Solar PV systems and Solar thermal systems.
Knowledge in electrical installation works.
Ability to co-ordinate and work amicably with team members.
Sound working knowledge of low voltage distribution system, power generation, blueprints, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
Working knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance of solar PV plants (grid tie and hybrid systems), Solar water heating systems (designing and installation).
Knowledge in refrigeration and air conditioning.
Knowledge of Auto CAD is an added advantage.
Ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Firefighting and first aid.
Computer literacy.
Other Desirable Attributes
Critical thinking is necessary for trouble shooting and problem solving.
Supervises students on attachment.
Expected to handle minimal resources such as imprest.

This position reports to the Electrical Engineer/Facilities & Assets Manager
