Basic job summary:
Responsible for providing support to the Student Mentoring Services team, in the development of a robust mentoring programme that takes into account the changing student demographics, as well as the mentors needs to be up to date with emerging mentoring tendencies and practices. Contribute to the advancement of the mentors training programme. As well as to address the administrative issues with regard to Student Mentoring Services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the Head of Student Mentoring in the preparation of the Mentoring Services office work plans, budgets and in the execution of the
Allocate mentors to new and continuing students and liaise with the Deans and Mentoring Coordinators at the School level to ensure the implementation and smooth running of the student mentoring programme.
Assist in coordinating the second interview trainings across the schools in conjunction with
Manage the activities run by the student interns under the mentoring
Coordinate trainings and workshops for mentors to ensure continuous improvement of mentoring
Create awareness among students on the importance of mentoring and liaise with students and mentors to identify and provide solutions to challenges hindering the mentoring process;
Provide a link to parents and the university by helping parents understand the current situation of students as well as augmenting their realization of their responsibility and accountability towards the students in the mentoring process.
Monitor and review mentoring reports on the Academic Management System and follow up with both mentors and students to ascertain whether mentoring is taking place and the effectiveness of programs;
Ensure the implementation and compliance of the University’s policies on student mentoring by all stakeholders;
Conduct frequent visits and inspections to assess the suitability of student
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or in any related field from a recognized institution
Proficiency in the Microsoft
Experience:
At least 2 years’ experience working with young adults as a Mentor/Peer Supporter or other relevant
