Strategic Project Manager

Job Purpose/Mission:

The Strategic Project Manager will lead projects spanning multiple departments and markets. Examples of strategic projects include developing standard operating procedures for business processes across the business, process improvements, coordination of new product introduction, coordination of new digital tools roll-out, centralized document management system, and similar projects involving several countries and global departments. The person in this position will report to the Head of Strategic Projects and will carry out projects in collaboration with other global departments and countries. This person could potentially work with members from all departments across the organization at multiple levels.

Responsibilities:

Prioritize and organize projects in collaboration with the Head of Strategic Projects and project Sponsors.
Develop clear and concise project charters including deliverables, KPIs and Stakeholders.
Develop, implement and record required project documentation and monitoring tools from project concept to close including handover to the business process owner(s).
Communicate timely and effectively will all Stakeholders at all stages of the project.
Organize regular efficient meetings to progress projects and report on progress.
Resolve problems and conflicts within teams as they occur and escalate as appropriate to maintain a high level of motivation within remote teams.
Continuously improve project management processes and tools e.g. formal return on experience reviews of completed projects.
Mentor team members to improve their contributions and project management skills.

Knowledge And Skills

Qualifications:

Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as project management, renewable energy, business administration or similar.

Experience:

Minimum 4-7 years of experience in project and/or programme management, ideally covering a variety of functions including Commercial; Operations; Supply Chain; Product Management and Digital as well as a variety of competencies including cost, time and risk management.
Experience working in Africa is a plus.
Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
Proven experience managing diverse and distributed project teams.
Proven experience in problem solving and report writing.
Demonstrable ability to view the big picture while also being detail oriented.

Language(s):

English
French would be an advantage.

Technology:

Proficient with Microsoft O365 suite (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word etc) with an emphasis on Excel.
Proficient with Project Management tools (e.g. Wrike, Smartsheet, MS Project.)
Knowledge of ERP software (e.g. SAP; Navision.)
