Basic Qualifications
University graduate with at least 8 years manufacturing experience in the FMCG/Pharmaceutical HealthCare industry and 5 years at senior management level.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate Degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain & Operations Management, BComm or related sciences with at least 5 years manufacturing experience in the FMCG/Pharmaceutical HealthCare industry at senior level with proven ability to collaborate and engender trust across all areas of the business.
MBA qualification will be an added advantage

The Site Director is responsible for overall management of GSK’s Manufacturing operations is Nairobi ensuring there is reliable supply of product to meet commercial demand. Provides leadership to all GMS/technical related functions at the Likoni Road Site and ensures there is efficient and appropriate utilization of Company resources and assets.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Translating the GMS & Supply Chain strategy into the Site Business Plan. Setting the direction for the Site, contributing to and formulating the strategy and long term vision for the Site ensuring investment in facilities and people to secure necessary standards going forward.
Provide a secure source of supply of high quality products to support CH East Africa Business.
To ensure that the site complies with:-GSK Quality, Safety and Environmental Standards and Policies.Kenyan Ministry of Health local GMP and Safety Standards.Kenya Bureau of Standards requirements (oral care & nutritionals).The GMP and Quality Standards of all countries where product from the Nairobi site are exported to.
Preparation of 3/1 plans and budgets in line with Group requirements for Likoni site.
Manage and balance Consumer demand and supply requirements in line with overall operating capacity always keeping quality in mind.
Deliver improvements in the key Site KPIs aligning with those of CH International Region and striving to improve on year on year basis.
Champion and drive Operational Excellence to improve operational effectiveness starting with the basics to get an ‘OE’ culture at the site.
Assign clear management task ownership for key business and operational process for efficient execution in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, IT, OE and EHS.
Communicate in a timely manner to all above Country requests for information and provide regular monthly updates on progress.
Work closely with ETCM to drive major capital projects at the Site.
Developing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and external stakeholders – particularly regulators, national institutions, local Government, local pressure groups and community.
Integrating, leading, challenging and empowering Site Leadership Team and fostering a climate of teamwork and collaboration.
Accountability
Deliver the financial targets in the 3/1 plan
To develop products of local opportunity for the East Africa market, while working closely with Commercial, mainly CH on meeting their changing needs via new innovations and prompt supply.
To take a leadership role in promoting Operations Excellence culture in GMS and lead Likoni site to Vision Factory status
Provide visionary leadership to all GMS employees, taping on potential available within the business by using resources wisely and judiciously.
Complexity
To play an active role in the GSK Kenya Customer Board ensuring that GMS is well represented in all the decisions taken by this board. To ensure that adequate Shared Services agreements are in place.
Work closely with the African & Middle East supply chain to ensure smooth supply of products.
Manage the business’ external relationships to enhance GSK’s good public image with policy makers and other key players in the market. Maintain, enhance & maximise GSK’s positive image in all markets.
Manage complex projects with heavy capital investment.
