Main Purpose Of The Role
As Shift Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for overall maintenance of plant, machinery, facilities and utilities.
You will attend to machinery breakdowns, implement the maintenance schedule, troubleshoot electrical and basic mechanical failures, hence contribute towards the reduction of maintenance costs. You will also assist the stores clerk to order and keep stock of the right spares. This role reports to the Production and Engineering Manager
Responsibilities
Adhere to all Upfield safety, health and environment procedures and standards.
Maintaining GMP standards in ensuring product quality is not compromised.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on all plant and equipment as allocated by the engineering and production manager/ engineering leadership to guarantee plant safety, people safety, product quality and plant uptime.
Carry out troubleshooting, diagnosis and resolution of mechanical and electrical breakdowns that may occur in the plant and ensure losses due to plant downtime are within target.
Carry out root cause/breakdown analysis using problem solving tools such as 5 why’s, fishbone diagrams to prevent recurrence of equipment breakdowns.
Drive implementation of autonomous maintenance in the production floor by coaching the machine operators on CILT activities on each machine.
Carry out inspections and record keeping on all electrical systems e.g. UPS and generator.
Adhere to the upfield engineering stores inventory procedures i.e. issuance and spare parts management.

Key Skills
Working knowledge and skills in installing and maintenance of electrical/electronic system components such as Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs), sensors, relays, variable speed drives (VSDs), induction motors, servo motors etc.
Working knowledge in installation and maintenance of safety circuit systems such as interlock switches, emergency stops and safety relays
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
Working knowledge and skills in installing and maintenance of production and processing equipment such as conveyors, geared motors, filling equipment etc
Working knowledge and skills in installing and maintenance of utility equipment such as HVAC, compressed air systems
Experience with control systems e.g. Siemens plc, temperature controllers, level controllers etc.
Experience
Higher diploma or diploma in mechatronic engineering or electrical and electronics engineering
3 years minimum plant maintenance experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
