Cardno Emerging Markets (East Africa) are seeking a full time, Senior Transport Consultant to join a vibrant Nairobi team.

The Role
As the Senior Consultant for Transport you will be reporting to the Director of Cardno IT Transport, the Senior Consultant will assist the Director with business development; operations management; client management; team management and the management and delivery of projects, including technical input.
Principle responsibilities:
Assist the Director in tracking opportunities and develop project pipeline
Manage Bid Preparation teams to prepare winning proposals
Lead and be actively involved in technical and financial proposal preparation
Mentor and support junior staff
Assist development and integration of project implementation processes
Undertake project work as and when required
Develop and grow the company’s business in East Africa and beyond
Provide technical review for project deliverables as required
Undertake operations management functions periodically as instructed by the Director
You will bring
Strong skills in the tracking and preparation of tenders and proposals.
Experience in contributing to the writing of international development proposals and reports in English
Well-developed interpersonal communication skills through successful liaising, negotiating, consulting and influencing of diverse stakeholders.
High-level ability to prioritise, plan and organise workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities.
Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems and complex issues, anticipate barriers, and create practical solutions
Possesses well rounded and extensive experience applying theoretical and conceptual know how in a specific field.
Draws upon multiple concepts, models or theories and apply them with a moderate level of innovation.
Possesses sufficient technical knowledge to work independently and is able to perform and complete designated technical tasks, plan and organise their own time and supervise that of others ensuring integration with the broader scope of work or project.
Is able to effectively communicate and present complex technical issues to senior management or clients.
Independently develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities.
Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed complex solutions with input from more senior roles.
Able to effectively communicate, hold rational conversations and cause understanding in others with an increasing ability to influence and negotiate.
Studies, reviews or develops work procedures to improve operations or to solve problems.
Technically proficient in an area relevant to the work of the company.

Willingness to travel for short term inputs for various meetings, tender opportunities. Travel may be global but likely to be mostly throughout East African and sub-Saharan Africa, in addition to Asia, the Pacific and the Caribbean / Latin America regions.
