Job Summary
The overall purpose of this job is to carry out tax engagements, which include planning, executing, directing and completing the assignments in accordance with the engagement terms.
Main Responsibilities of Job
Understand the client’s business and maintain good client service in line with established guidelines;
Understand sensitivity of client engagements and maintain client confidentiality in line with set policies;
Develop and implement strategies to open up new markets and generate effective demand for the service line;
Create a positive impression with the client, dealing with any communications in a professional manner;
Identify opportunities and recommend additional firm services that could benefit the client;
Manage a client portfolio and build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients;
Foster the firm’s culture of pride through active participation in internal, external and/or community activities;
Prepare and review tax computations and returns ;
Follow-up with clients to ensure that approval of filing tax returns are received in a timely manner;
Prepare where applicable and review estimation of penalties and interest on late payment if any;
Prepare and review installment and final tax payment notifications;
Provide advice to clients on tax related matters and review itax profile of the clients to add value to the client;
Follow up change of details on Itax including the change of financial year-end;
Prepare and submit clients tax files for various engagements to the manager for review ;
Reconcile the tax account and dividend tax account to the audit file and ensure that the clients’ tax status with the revenue authority is up to date;
Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation including developments in global and regional taxation, double tax agreements, transfer pricing and related tax issues;
Perform tax structuring engagements;
Guide associates to prepare installments and final tax payment notification;
Conduct tax audits, objections, appeals;
Conduct tax due diligence and tax health checks ;
Conduct internal and external tax training;
Develop tax publications including tax alerts/bulletins and organize client seminars/webinars;
Maintain and update the job plan schedule on a weekly basis in liaison with the manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Business related field Finance/ Accounting;
CPA/ACCA Finalist
Minimum of four years of experience+ post qualification experience in a reputable audit firm.
