Senior Researcher

Kimetrica seeks dynamic and committed candidates for the position of Senior Researcher.
OBJECTIVE:
The successful candidate will be able to design and manage both large and small research projects and impact evaluations, providing leadership in quantitative and qualitative analytics. We are looking for seasoned professionals with a track record in high-quality publications. Key position objectives include:

Provide high quality, high impact research to key humanitarian and developmental decision-makers
Focus on fragile states
Provide technical leadership and research quality assurance
Design and implement research projects using robust qualitative and quantitative methods
Manage and mentor research staff
Contribute to the broader department’s research strategy on how to expand and strengthen our research offerings

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design of research studies and instruments, sampling etc
Data analysis and write up
Policy analysis and write up- including regular submissions to peer-reviewed journals
Team management and oversight of research projects, including coaching and mentoring of junior staff
Project proposals /grant writing
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required:
Postgraduate qualification, preferably PhD or equivalent, in relevant discipline (economics, epidemiology, public health) with a quantitative / statistical focus
Strong applied research skills with demonstrated experience in RCT, mixed method, and robust qualitative research designs
Demonstrated experience designing sampling frames
Advanced analytical skills, including in-depth knowledge and working experience using quantitative statistical packages (Python, R, SPSS, etc.) and qualitative research analytics (NVivo, Atlas.ti, etc.)
Ability to synthesize and summarize complex data
Ability to communicate results in meaningful ways using concise and analytical writing
Strong English language skills
Developing country experience
Experience managing complex research projects
Ability to find the best, flexible research solutions in potentially challenging working conditions
Interest and ability to mentor junior staff, possibly remotely

Experience conducting research in insecure locations

Track record in successful publications

Experience conducting research focused on social protection, food security, disaster risk reduction and management (DDRM) a plus

SALARY RANGE: KES 230,000-300,000 per month
JOB LOCATION: Nairobi, Kenya. Currently all staff are working from home due to the COVID situation.
