Responsibilities
Monitor and ensure implementation of project activities and recommend required actions
Participate in the development and drafting of annual work plans, analytical/narrative reports, RFPs, TORs, handbooks, training manuals, workshop materials and other core program documents (e.g., Logic Model, Performance Measurement Framework and Risk Register) with the STA, Canada-based SPO, and other CICan staff and implementing partners
Provide support to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Specialist with MEL activities, i.e. data collection and capacity building, as needed
Provide support to the Gender Equality (GE) Specialist with GE activities, I.e. gender analysis, gender strategy, training and partner support, as needed
Work with Finance Officer to ensure financial and budgetary compliance in the implementation of Kenya-based activities
Coordinate various program committee meetings
Liaise with Kenyan implementing partners as required
Present KBEST and facilitate discussions at meetings and workshops with institutional partners and other stakeholders as required
Perform other duties as may be assigned
Reporting
The employee will work under the direction of the Kenya-based STA and is expected to work with a high degree of independence and autonomy.
Qualifications
Full fluency in English and Swahili
Kenyan citizen or legally permitted to work in Kenya. Note: CICan will not provide a work permit or sponsor individuals
At least Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject area (business administration, project management, international cooperation, or similar)
Project management training is preferred
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the planning, implementation, administration, and reporting of government, international and/or private donor-funded projects in Kenya
Demonstrated experience applying gender equality concepts in an international development and/or education context.
Demonstrated research, analytical and writing abilities in the preparation of reports, concept papers and/or proposals for government, international and/or private donors
Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and experience with SharePoint desirable
Specific experience and/or education in the area of the Blue Economy or marine sciences an asset
Knowledge of the Kenyan education system, particularly in TVET, is an asset
