Senior Officer, Network Administrator Senior Officer, Systems Administrator

Job Purpose: 
The primary purpose of the Senior Officer, Network Administrator is to design and maintain GAB’s Networks and Computer Systems; support business users; install and configure computer systems; support business users; diagnose communications/hardware/software faults and solve technical problems.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain, Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex network and computer system issues.
Provide expert technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking requests.
Adhere to the bank’s IT security policies, standards and procedures.
Explore new technologies and trends related to computer networks. Collaborate with IT 3rd Parties, and data centre managers to develop action plan for improved operations.
Participate in the design, setting up, implementation and testing business continuity and disaster recovery installations within the bank.
Participate in on-boarding and managing of Service level agreements with service providers or vendors.
Provide technical services and support for WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security, Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure; Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, SQL; Virtualization technologies: VMware and Microsoft; Remote access solution support; Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications.
Perform network assessments and security audits.
Working knowledge of networking topologies (Fully understanding of OSI model).
Planning and implementation of network security, including building firewalls, configuring IPsec VPN, applying cryptography, developing IT security policies, procedures and standards within the bank.
Evaluations of hardware, software and peripherals equipment for LAN/WAN/MAN environment for procurement.
Anticipate communication and network problems and implement preventative measures.
Analyzing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance.
Maintain Data centre condition to the highest levels for optimum availability and efficient delivery of business systems.
Deliver IT project, Meet agreed customer service levels for all systems supported by IT within SLA, performance/changes on time and within budget. Evidence from project Management
Ensure all incidences, errors, problems and requests for service are logged through the Help Desk System.
Attend and participate in all appointed team meetings.
In coordination with the information security office of the bank, constantly check on the global threats to the computer networks and put preventive measures in place.

Qualifications and experience

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or any related field
Advanced Diploma in Telecommunication/electronics engineering.
Cisco certified network professional
Minimum 4 years of experience to include technical, business and team leadership gained

Wide range of knowledge in local, Wide and Metropolitan Area Networks design, installation and maintenance
Working experience with Ethernet networks
Experience in analysing, designing, supporting and troubleshooting networks on Cisco routers, switches and security appliances
Good working knowledge of firewall and intrusion prevention systems
Working experience in project management
Ability to work in small multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to prioritize and manage several open cases concurrently
Ability to be self-drive
