Role Description
We are looking for a passionate, performance-driven marketing professional to join our team based in our Kenya offices. The role has three anchors:-
Performance Marketing- growing Pesapal’s Share of Payment across all products through impactful marketing campaigns that resulted in a>80% activity rate for Pesapal products.
Brand Building- Ensuring we consistently grow brand equity for our corporate and product brands.
Marketing operations excellence:- You are a high-level manager with strategic planning and implementation functions.
A successful candidate will be a customer champion, have a strategic and analytical mindset, embrace creativity, and communicate effectively with internal and external partners. Additionally, you must have the ability to succeed in a heavily matrixed environment, where success is dependent on your ability to collaborate with partners across the business in a positive, productive, and transparent way.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy
Define and implement marketing strategy, including people/teams involved (across the business), their inputs & outputs, decisions and reporting team and daily/weekly/monthly outputs;
Hire, manage and drive a motivated and high-performing marketing team
Oversee all key marketing activities aimed at growing our product usage
Brand
Develop marketing campaigns to increase the brand visibility for Pesapal across all key chosen markets
Develop Partner Marketing campaigns with Merchants to push usage & Adoption of
Services
Establish a process for decision-making around Brand and Product growth:
Performance Marketing
Develop marketing campaigns to drive usage and adoption of our payment solutions
Analyse data to track effectiveness and identify new opportunities or strategies
Determine, track, and manage data points for product growth
Marketing Operations
Design and enforce a product feedback mechanism/system/process that works and is responsive
Search out new channel partnership opportunities to help drive product growth
Develop and oversee a marketing metrics management system and ensure that the marketing team has processes to drive their success both internally and externally
COMPETENCIES
Experience & Education
5+ years of marketing experience with a focus on direct marketing skills, including segmentation, creative development with internal and external agencies, A/B testing and measurement
Previous experience as a product marketing manager will be a strong advantage
Previous experience as a consumer marketing manager would be a plus
Data-driven marketing manager with up-to-date knowledge of cutting-edge marketing techniques
Previous advertising experience is a plus
Large company consumer marketing experience but with a strong commercial and entrepreneurial outlook.
Have experience with digital products – knowledge of app/ussd nice to have
Digital & mobile marketing experience
Proven experience in driving brand visibility
Good understanding and experience in distribution channel/network Skills
Analytical & Excellent at numbers.
Facilitate working with and influencing cross-functional teams and departments in an environment of rapid growth.
Strategic thinker who can see beyond the day-to-day grind to help reach marketing goals, create a stronger brand, and improve the customer experience
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Expertise in creating rigour around activation metrics and managing yourself and/or others to drive to these metrics.

Measuring Success: KPIs Core to the Role
Ultimately, the success of this role is going to be measured around two key Northstar metrics:
Brand awareness growth: soft metrics to measure Pesapal’s brand footprint across our chosen markets
Product Growth: KPIs have been set around the AARRR Funnel for driving growth
