Senior Financial Accountant

Job Description:
The role reports to the General Manager and will be responsible to all accounting and finance related services which shall include  to posting of all transactions, cost tracking, general ledger maintenance,  financial reporting, tax filing, budgeting and processing payments among other responsibilities.
Accounting & Transaction Processing

Monthly/quarterly finance close procedures and reporting of financial results
Analyze balance sheet and expense accounts and prepare necessary journal entry adjustments and general ledger maintenance
Ensure proper accounting and posting of transactions accordance with lease terms and applicable accounting rules, including lease rental income accrual, depreciation charges, receivables, prepayments etc
Preparation of invoices for rental payments and other receivables
Institution of financial controls in line with approved budgets
Processing of payments per the procurement guidelines

Budgets

Prepare, analyse, monitor and report project financial information including budgets, expenditure, forecasts, cost control and cash flows
Assist in preparation and update of budgets and forecasts including assumptions
Track all costs and budget including processing of all related invoices and lead quarterly budget meetings to identify and discuss any cost / budget issues
Coordinate with the business team and group finance team to reconcile budgets against funding line / financing source
Coordinate with financiers to ensure drawdowns are undertaken as scheduled and repayments structured accordingly
Identify and report on expenditure, budget and income variations as well as implementing monitoring processes to provide for effective project management and deliver

Working Capital Management

Regular assessment of operating liquidity needs and liaising with operations team to fund the accounts on a need basis.
Cash flows forecasting and weekly reporting on liquidity position.
Key liaison with bankers on the current account operations.
Forex cost management

Internal Controls 

Maintain  and monitor costs and expenses within the approved budgets
Ensure correct account

Financial Reporting & Analysis

External and internal audit support
Preparation of annual financial statements 
Prepare ad hoc financial analysis for management

Compliance

Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Monthly filing and payment of VAT and Withholding tax.

Other duties

Organization of physical accounting files, maintain  related records including insurance, invoices and LPO’s
 Ensure financial management tools and information systems are up to date and reconciled between themselves
Perform own administrative duties

Minimum Requirements/ Competencies:

Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Administration or an equivalent.
CPA(K) or equivalent is a must.
Minimum of 4 years experience in a similar environment
Expertise in financial operations, accounting controls, working capital management, financial statement reporting and analysis, regulatory compliance, tax management and budgeting.
Up-to-date applied knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and tax regulations.
Experience in an equipment leasing environment will be an added advantage
Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
Proficiency in IT
Excellent communication skills, problem solver with strong attention to detail
Team player with ability to work effectively and make decisions independently
Commercial awareness and sound business knowledge
