Job Purpose
The post holder will support a transitional period within the Africa Programme (AP). And will be responsible for management of the AP budget and maintaining robust financial and operational management systems for programming in Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia. The role will cover all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, management of grants, and capacity-building of country office colleagues. The post-holder will also support in analysis of needs, gaps and strengths as part of an institutional change management process. The post holder will provide the AP with expert, yet accessible, financial and administrative advice and information, and with technical support and supervision.
Travel requirements
Due to the current pandemic and travel restrictions it is not anticipated that travel will be required in this role. The position-holder may be asked to come to Alert’s office in London

Relevant education to a degree level
Financial qualification (ACCA or equivalent)
Experience of financial systems management
Demonstrable experience of grants management in an INGO environment including:
creating/working with complex budgets, forecasts, plans
compiling financial reports from a variety of sources
building and sustaining relationships with donors/partners/stakeholders
Experience of strategic financial management gained in an (I)NGO
Experience with capacity building of colleagues and partner organisations
Fluency in spoken and written English
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Experience of working overseas in an (I)NGO in an African conflict context
Oral and written fluency in French
Experience of developing, negotiating and managing commercial bids and contracts
Demonstrable knowledge of good practice in recruitment and human resource management
