We are looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Environmental & Social Consultant to play a lead role in the further growth of our business, based in Nairobi. We are looking for an individual with a minimum of 5 to 8 years of professional experience in the ESG space.
We are searching for an exceptional individual who has technical and practical experience in:
Environmental & Social Due Diligence againt local regulations and IFC standards.
Development, implementation and training related to Environmental / Social Management Systems.
Environmental / social strategy design and implementation.
On-site experience in identifying and managing key environmental / social risks in Africa.
Strong exposure to Sustainable standards used by lenders and especially the IFC PS and WB EHS Guidelines.
Coaching junior resources, especially on technical E&S skills.
Developing and maintaining client relationships.
Experience in working with Development Fund Instiutions (DFIs) and Private Equity clients investing in projects in Africa.
Attributes required:
A minimum of 5 to 8 years’ practical experience delivering Environmental & Social projects.
Educated to at least a post graduate level in Environment and/or Occupational Health & Safety and/or Human Resources and/or Social Sciences combined with a high level of practical ability and experience.
Able to work independently, flexibly and organise own work load to deliver projects on time and to client’s expectations;
On-site experience in sectors such as finance, food & beverage, chemicals, manufacturing, and power;
Excellent writing and oral presentation skills;
Ability to engage with site senior management team and shop floor workers, critically reviewing E&S documentation
Ability to work closely with client teams and deliver compelling presentations and reports;
Able to travel as required to client’s facilities in Africa;
Possess existing local market presence and client relationships which could lead to business development opportunities;
Build and sustain professional relationships both within the company and externally;
Drive new business development within new and existing clients; and
Prior experience in client facing / consulting roles.

Additional languages beyond English ( French, Portuguese or African languages ).
