SoCha is seeking a skilled Senior Copy Editor consultant to support writing and editing assignments aligned with USAID’s writing, styling, and branding guidelines. The Senior Copy Editor will be responsible for high-quality content that resonates with the highest editorial standards, fostering a culture of excellence within the editorial team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality content that resonates with the target audience and achieves the organization’s objectives.
Responsibilities
The Senior Copy Editor will provide the following services:
Proofreading reports for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, and inconsistencies in language usage.
Ensuring clarity, coherence, and consistency in the presentation of information and findings.
Reviewing reports for accuracy in data representation, including numerical figures and statistical information.
Ensuring adherence to established formatting USAID guidelines and style preferences.
Checking references and citations for accuracy and consistency with the designated citation style.
Providing suggestions for improving the overall readability and flow of the report.
Collaborating with the teams to address any queries or concerns related to the content of the report.
All edits will be done on suggestion mode (if Google Doc) or track changes (MSWord) to ensure version controls of the document.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proficiency in English language editing and proofreading.
Experience in editing technical or scientific reports, particularly in the field of public health or related disciplines.
Familiarity with formatting and citation styles used in research publications.
Attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct errors in grammar, syntax, and punctuation.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with researchers and project teams.
