Senior Carbon Data Analyst

This Role:
BioLite seeks a Senior Carbon Finance Analyst to market and sell carbon credits, as well as to undertake quantitative analyses with the carbon finance department. BioLite develops carbon credits from the use of our products, especially clean biomass cookstoves, across Sub-Saharan Africa, channeling revenues from the sale of carbon credits to projects in the form of lower prices and other benefits to customers. This involves selling carbon credits on global commodities markets and implementing complex capital flows from their sale back to BioLite projects. In collaboration with the VP of Environmental Markets and Sustainability, the candidate will sell carbon credits to corporations seeking to offset their climate change impact.
The candidate will also conduct quantitative analyses needed within the carbon finance department, including but not limited to modelling product subsidies vs unit economics, long term revenue forecasting and planning and building financial models for investors.
By helping to ensure that carbon credits from BioLite’s clean energy products are successfully sold and revenues reinvested, you will be essential to fulfilling BioLite’s mission of bringing energy everywhere.
You Will:
Manage workflows in the following key areas:

Develop roster of potential corporate clients for carbon credits and actively pitch these clients for purchase of either spot (issued) credits or long term forward contracts.
Conduct complex quantitative analyses in Excel focused on unit economics, long term revenue and profitability projections, models for investors for both the carbon finance business as well as cross-departmental work specific to clean cookstoves for Sub-Saharan African markets.
Develop and maintain internal tools to track carbon finance performance matrices.
Conduct other quantitative and analytical tasks within the carbon finance department as needed.

You Have:

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in a quantitative discipline with a strong grounding in science, math, engineering, business or other quantitative training
Superior proficiency in Excel required, ability to create complex financial models, basic proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
Passion to use market forces to address climate change
Ability to express oneself verbally in a succinct and structured way to decision makers across a broad range of corporations
Strong writing, analytical and quantitative skills
Deadline driven, organized and able to multi-task
Structured and analytic thinker
