Senior Android Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our Engineering team, joining a newly formed, mobile-focussed, competency area. In this role, you will be responsible for the setting and implementing of standards to enable the efficient delivery of high-quality mobile applications. You will be an integral member of a high-performing and cross-functional team, and will report to an Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

Helping to deliver a mobile application for an exciting African Fintech platform.
Extensively collaborating with the team on the requirements and their implementation, process improvements and domain analysis
Implementing designs which realize customer value, focussing on quality through testing, automation and review
Critical analysis of the applications you work on in an effort to identify opportunities for improved customer satisfaction and user experience
Writing and implementing code that is idiomatic, maintainable and efficient
Identifying and resolving bottlenecks, rectifying bugs and enhancing the application performance

What you must have:

At least 5 Years of experience in Android development
Deep understanding of the Android framework.
Extensive knowledge of idiomatic implementation using Kotlin / Java
A strong understanding of the RESTful API paradigm.
Experience with third-party libraries and API’s.
Well-versed in design and architectural patterns such as MVC, MVP and MVVM
A strong understanding of OOP and SOLID principles
Thorough understanding and extensive experience with the implementation of automated testing
Experience with the distribution of Android applications
Good working knowledge of the use of Git
Experience within an agile development environment
A solid understanding of automated release management for mobile applications through the usage of CICD concepts.
