Security Officer Clinical Instructor – Nursing & Midwifery Sciences – 4 Posts Artisan Maintenance Technician

Main Purpose of the Job

The Security Officer will support the protection of and mitigation of risk to AmIU on the main campus and all other locations where the AmIU may be represented and, at the same time, support all visitors, partners, donors, the University board and related Government officials whenever they engage in university.  The Role holder will ensure that security support and security risk management are mainstreamed into all AmIU programs and operational activities; adequate security and safety measures are implemented at all Amref facilities per the current security policy and risk assessments; best possible protection of AmIU staff, resources, assets and facilities in accordance with AmIU Policies and Procedures and ensure close co-operation and coordination with other Universities, Government, Partners and other actors.

Key responsibilities:

Implementation of security policies and procedures.
Supervision and performance monitoring of outsourced/or University security officers
Technical oversight of all security installations, such as access control, CCTV, electric fence, fire detection and suppression system, and public address and voice evacuation system.
Leads in developing, implementing and adhering to Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS).
Participate in security risk assessment for all University activities, students’ residences, and senior staff as requested
Maintaining an up-to-date incidents logging system.
Conducting accurate, objective and credible security incident investigations.
Conducted orientations for all university joiners (staff and students), fire drills, and briefings for all visitors.
Participate in conducting security risk assessment for all University field activities
In-country liaison focal point for relevant security teams, including government, NGOs, UN, and Private security companies, on security-related matters.
Create transparent and credible working relationships with Kenya police agencies and maintain up-to-date regional Command contacts.
Offer adequate administrative support and work as an integral university team member.

Job Requirements:

A university degree or similar qualification in security, public administration or related field.
 A minimum of four (4) years experience in a busy organisation in security/safety. Previous security experience with or working with the UN, INGO/NGO, civilian security company/organization or relevant clean Police/Military experience.
Experience in a University or educational institution setup, specifically in a security role, is an added advantage.
Deep knowledge of modern security systems such as CCTV, X-ray machines, access control, metal detectors, public address evacuation and cyber security is desirable.
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, including the ability to draft, edit and finalize documents in English.
