Job Overview/Summary:
The national security guard, under the direct supervision of security Supervisor, will safeguard all IRC assets and premises through physical guarding at all the field sites 24/7. He / She will respond to any incident which requires the security office within their areas of jurisdiction. They will give daily situation reports of the field sites to the supervisor. They will work closely as a team with the other national guards and the incentive counterpart managers, supervisors and the guards to ensure that there is cohesion and information sharing.
Key Responsibilities;
To safeguard IRC staff, clients, and property in all field sites by ensuring that they are secure and free from losses or damages through physical guarding 24/7 day & night.
Conduct regular foot patrols in the field sites ensuring that the perimeter fence are intact, and that doors and windows of the offices are firmly locked at during the night.
Implement IRC security protocols, SOPs within the field sites in a professional manner in line with the IRC WAY.
Implement standard access procedures to IRC sites ensuring that persons and vehicles entering or leaving the sites are searched appropriately.
To supervise assets/material movement from the IRC stores to any other location within IRC programs in reducing and minimizing chances of defraud within the stores and programs.
To work closely with field sites in charges, Supply Chain department and Nutrition program to ensure that the field stores control procedures are adhered to.
Crowd control during normal field sites operations.
To gather information from reliable sources and share with the security supervisor and other security actors within the area of operation.
To maintain reporting system of incidents occurrences within IRC programs and in the field and giving situation updates to the security supervisor within necessary time frame.
Perform any other duty as may be directed by the supervisor.
Key Result Areas;
Physical guarding of IRC site both day and night 24/7.
Maximum presence and involvement in the distribution exercise, crowd control and coverage of all field sites.
Taking preventive measures to avert any pilferages of commodities.
Enforcing IRC security procedures as per the SOPs.
Minimum Qualifications:
KCSE Certificate and above.
Training or certification in first aid, fire fighting and security related training will be added advantage.
Must be physically and mentally fit.
Possess a valid Certificate of good conduct.
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Should have a letter of recommendation from previous employer, area chief or government authority.
Required Experience & Competencies:
Knowledgeable of using communication gadgets i.e. VHF, HF radios is added advantage.
Good communication skill, fluency in both written and spoken English/Kiswahili. Somali speaking will be preferred.
Ability to work closely, professionally and constructively with others regardless of their religion, race, or cultural background.
Ability to work long hours with minimal supervision.
Should be flexible and show high standards of discipline and honesty.
Willing to undergo IRC security training.
