Role Description.
This is a full-time on-site role for a Security and Safety Manager located in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Security and Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing corporate security, occupational health and safety, safety training, environment health and safety (EHS), accident investigation, and industrial safety on a day-to-day basis.
The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the company’s personnel, assets, and operations. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing security policies, procedures, and programs to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Management:
Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures.
Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
Oversee the installation, use and maintenance of security systems (e.g., CCTV, access control).
Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
Ensure physical security measures comply with the various standards that we subscribe to.
Implement access control measures to restrict unauthorized entry to sensitive areas.
Monitor and manage security of production environments.
Maintain detailed records of security incidents and access logs as required.
Safety Management:
Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
Ensure compliance with Kenyan safety regulations, including those set by the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS).
Crisis Management:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
Conduct regular drills and training sessions for staff.
Act as the primary point of contact during emergencies.
Training and Development:
Provide training to employees, visitors, contractors and security team on security and safety protocols.
Stay updated on the latest security and safety trends and technologies.
Promote a culture of safety and security awareness within the organization.
Budget Management:
Prepare and manage the security and safety budget.
Ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a security management role, preferably in a high-security environment.
Strong knowledge of security systems and technologies.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick decisions.
Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP) or safety management (e.g., OSHA) is a plus.
Familiarity with Kenyan safety and security regulations.
