School Nurse

Responsibilities
Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with learner patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
MANAGEMENT OF THE HEALTH CENTER

Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to learners and staff.
Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following government and nursing standards of care set by state schools, the government, etc.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Document patient care services by charting learner patients and department records.
Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs e.g., the Head of Department – Boarding for the boarders.
Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Maintain a cooperative relationship with the management and the rest of the health care team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

REPORTING

Ensure submission of the following reports; daily, weekly, monthly, and termly

RESOURCE OPTIMISATION

In charge of supervising and ensuring preparations of requisitions termly and monthly in line with the required specifications and according to the requirements of the department.
Ensure that sufficient resources and time are allocated to enable the designated staff to discharge their responsibilities.

Qualifications

Diploma in Nursing
Registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya
Two years of work experience
Good interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
First Aid Training Skills
A valid certificate of good conduct
