School Matron (Child Care)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evening Routine Supervision: Help children complete their evening routines from 6pm onwards, including showering, laundry, dinner, and reading time, ensuring they are ready for bed by the designated time.
Nighttime Presence: While the Au Pair may sleep at night, they are on call to attend to any needs or emergencies which may arise, and should intermittently monitor the rooms for safety and security purposes.
Morning Handover: Provide a brief report on the night’s events and any concerns to the daytime caregivers during morning handover.
Initial Sunday Daytime Shifts: For a probationary period, the Au Pair will conduct their duties with students during Sunday daytime hours.
Personal Care Assistance: Support children with personal hygiene and ensure communal areas remain tidy.
Effective Communication: Maintain clear communication with the school’s staff and caregivers regarding any incidents or needs.

This position is not live-in; the Au Pair is expected to leave the campus during the day after their shift,

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Previous experience in childcare, preferably with pre-teens or teenagers
Strong sense of responsibility, patience, and empathy, with a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of children.
Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children and staff.
Capacity to work independently during nighttime hours while remaining responsive to the children’s needs.
Full professional proficiency in English Language, both verbal and written  
Completion of DBS/CRB/Background check/certificate of good conduct;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
Commitment and willingness to work in a challenging and fast changing environment;
Curiosity, ambition, willingness to create and experiment new teaching techniques;
Determined team player.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA 

Experience teaching low-achieving students
Experience working with refugee and vulnerable populations
Familiarity with Child Safeguarding and Protection best practices
