Sanctions Analyst

Duties/Responsibilities

To support the Line Manager/ Head of Financial Crime Operations to ensure that the business operate in accordance Kenya Sanctions policies and procedures
To support the development of compliant, flexible and robust systems, procedures and controls to deliver to the business Sanctions objectives and improve the business performance. 
Ensure that all RFIs (Requests For Information) requests from COE are reviewed and responded to in a timely manner. 
Support the MLRO and Head of Financial Crime Operations & Control in driving the Sanctions agenda throughout the business.
Report and escalate all Sanctions compliance risks and issues arising from the Kenya business promptly and appropriately in accordance with Group and local legal and regulatory requirements.
 Report any deviations from the annual coverage plan to the Line Manager/ Head of Financial Crime Operations/MLRO. 
Work closely with Relationship Managers and Branch Managers to obtain necessary information on the Sanctions alert review process to facilitate closure of investigations within stipulated turnaround times.
Help facilitate effective and constructive sharing of knowledge and experience of Sanctions issues across Kenya Compliance. 
Discuss current issues with Line Manager/ Head of Financial Crime Operations and escalate or resolve these issues where possible.
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards. Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.

Requirements

Specialist knowledge of the Group and Kenya AML/Sanctions/Pep’s Policies and Procedures.
Sound knowledge of local Sanctions Policies and other compliance requirements. 
Comprehensive knowledge of risk management skills, methodology and processes. 
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications with a high exposure to spreadsheet analysis 

Preferred

Proficiency in writing instruction/procedure manuals and training materials ·
Project management and project coordination skills. 
Good knowledge of FSA requirements and expectations, applicable US requirements e.g. OFAC
Experience in the banking industry
