Sales Executive, Liner Services

The Sales Executive – Liner Services reporting to the Arear Manager, based out of Nairobi, Kenya shall primarily be responsible to promote Liner services, through sales of General Inbound/ Outbound logistics solutions and services to clients, thereby achieve or exceed the set sales targets.    

Objectives & Measurement – Key Responsibilities

  Evaluate customer potential and conduct Sales Planning.           
  Continuously improve the customer portfolio by securing new accounts. 
  Ensure regular updates of all activities in Sales Dashboard.        
  Review customer performance with GMAC Sales head and define appropriate actions.
  Prepare and conduct visits, report and follow-up on visits.
  Conclude contracts for customers (proposal, negotiation, closing).
  Record commitments (tender tracking/commercial).          
  Drive local business for foreign accounts and adhere to Push-Pull process.
  Selectively engage in Trade Management discussions where relevant (e.g., tender guidance and negotiations, special commodity market rates, etc.).
  Provide feedback on the market including rates, competition activities, market conditions etc to all relevant stakeholders.
  Give clear info to Sales Coordination regarding pricing requirements to enable future communications with Trade Manager.
  Provide clear info to Sales Coordination regarding handover to Customer Service.
  Partner up with Sales Coordination.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Competent user of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Being able to communicate verbally/writing in a clear and concise manner.
Balance multiple tasks, changing priorities & operate within a deadline-oriented environment.
Good interpersonal relationship in managing people/relationship. 
Excellent attention to minute details.
Self-driven, organized, good communication skills.

Education, Qualifications, Certifications, and Licenses

3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in Liner Sales, NVOCC/Freight Forwarding within the Eastern Africa. 
Having a good knowledge of the local territory market.
Working knowledge of operating and / or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems.
Experience of working to pre-defined processes and procedures and delivering work in accordance with SLA (Service Level Agreements).
A relevant academic qualification shall be desirable.
