Position Overview:
As a Sage Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing our financial operations. Your responsibilities will encompass strategic financial management, budget oversight, compliance, and process improvement. You will work collaboratively with senior management to ensure financial transparency and adherence to world-class accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting: Manage all accounting functions, including bookkeeping, ledgering, and recording of financial transactions. Oversee asset, liability, and capital account entries to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
Payroll Management: Supervise payroll processing, including the calculation of relevant statutory deductions, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
Petty Cash Review: Regularly review petty cash ledgers to maintain transparency and accuracy in small cash transactions.
Budget Management: Track and manage the organization’s budget, comparing actual expenditures against budgeted amounts on a monthly basis.
Inventory Oversight: Oversee monthly stock take procedures, identifying and addressing wastage or gaps in stock management.
Audit Coordination: Manage the audit process and collaborate closely with auditors and senior management to establish robust financial controls and procedures to meet international accounting standards.
Financial Analysis: Provide in-depth financial analyses on operational costs and contribute to the development and recommendation of strategies aimed at reducing the unit cost of Food for Education’s core service delivery.
Bank Reconciliation: Review bank account reconciliations and maintain cash flow oversight on a monthly basis to ensure financial stability.
Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial management reports for the senior management team, including monthly closes, quarterly reports, and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with national and local financial legal requirements by staying informed about existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary actions.
Special/Ad Hoc Reporting: Prepare special or ad hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends to support decision-making.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify and implement solutions that improve financial efficiencies and processes currently in place.
Facilitation: Ensure that all departments are facilitated with financial requests promptly and efficiently.
Document Management: Oversee physical filing and ensure that all financial documents are stored efficiently and securely.
Guidance and Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to the Accountant for day-to-day financial tasks and responsibilities.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
Proven experience in financial management and accounting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
