Main Job Purpose
Safety Officer reports and work closely with SHE Manager in managing safety and occupational health improvement activities to achieve excellence at all Unilever Tea Kenya (UTK) and plantation sites .

Support deployment of the Safety strategy, policy and standards in UTK sites to achieve excellent sustainable results.
Support completion of safety and occupational risk assessment in UTK sites and in developing/implementing appropriate controls.
Develop understanding of the Unilever BeSafe Program and support deployment in assigned sites.
Monitor legal compliance and ensure they meet all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards on safety operations.
Work closely with Occupational Health team to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational related issues in the business.
Support SHE Manager in leading and managing safety committee, incident investigation and analysis.
Support SHE Manager in ensuring compliance with safe travel and reporting requirements
Oversee OS/EPR/SHE PAR reporting in non ‐ manufacturing within the cluster for accuracy and timeliness

KEY REQUIREMENTS

University degree in Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental or bachelor’s degree in Science, production technology, chemistry, environmental science or Engineering or professional certification in SHE related field.
NEBOSH certificate
Experience in implementation of health and safety management systems; Kaizen, OSHA
Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of Kenya Safety Legislation (OSHA 2007)
Over 5 years in industrial health, safety operations and management systems
