Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the process of obtaining ethical approval for research projects
Develop study tools, training manuals and field guides to use for data collection
Coordinate the recruitment, training and supervision of field teams
Coordinate field work and be responsible for data quality
Mobilize and sensitize key stakeholders about research projects
Participate in the data analysis, scientific writing and research proposals development
Prepare regular field and project reports
Participate in dissemination of research findings and policy dialogue with relevant audiences
Take lead in preparing progress and end-of-grant reports to donors
Support development of funding proposals
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Skills and Qualifications
Masters in any of the following areas: Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Biological Sciences, Applied Statistics, Development Studies or related disciplines
At least two years’ post-Masters qualification experience, preferably in a research setting
Good computer literacy and knowledge of multiple statistical and/or qualitative software packages such as STATA, SPSS, NVivo or ATLAS.ti
Experience conducting field research and managing data collection teams
Excellent oral and written communication in English and Kiswahili
Ability to work independently, set priorities, juggle tasks and meet tight deadlines
Publication record in peer-reviewed journals
