Job Responsibility
The main responsibilities will include:
Support the development of study protocol, tools, and other documents required for the study
On behalf of the PI, Lead the process of submitting the study protocol for approval to Ethics Boards in Kenya and Manitoba, Canada
Lead the implementation of the mixed methods study arms (clinical, quantitative, and qualitative) in multiple sites
Support the community-based organizations to develop proposals for the study and facilitate sub-granting process following PHDA policies. Prepare reports for the Ethics Board on a regular basis
Support the community-based organizations to select the research team who will implement the research
Train the community research team to effectively and ethically implement the research study
Regularly monitor and mentor the research team to ensure that the research is implemented as planned
Support the research team and the partners to solve problem or address adverse events when needed
Conduct regular meetings with the research team to review the implementation strategies and revise the same when needed to increase efficiency
Strengthen the partnership with the research partners and the community organizations’ actions by ensuring their capacity related to the implementation and administration of the study is strengthened regularly
Support data analysis, production of study reports, and dissemination of study findings with different stakeholders including the community members
Coordinate with NASCOP, the County government, and the TSU to engage the relevant team in study implementation. Share the research findings on a regular basis with stakeholders and the Technical Working Group to influence evidence-based national or county policies related to anal health and HPV
Create and deliver professional presentations on research results to various stakeholders
Develop research reports on a regular basis and keep the investigators updated on progress on a monthly basis
Write evidence briefs and manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed journals
Manage the research database for PHDA and ensure that ethics board obligations for all PHDA research projects are met.
Contribute to PHDA Annual Report and other organizational communication initiatives
Qualification, Skills & Competencies:
Post-graduate in Public Health, Social Science, Social Work, Anthropology, or other equivalent degrees
At least 4 to 5 years of experience in managing complex research projects independently
Experience of working collaboratively with key population-led organizations
Knowledge and understanding of different research methods
Experience in handling field-based data collection and monitoring of primary data
collection for quality assurance
Analytical and research skills
Experience in drafting protocols and research reports
Communication skills for presenting data to various audiences
Additional skills and knowledge:
Remains productive even when under pressure
Demonstrates a systematic and efficient approach to work
Works collaboratively with key population community researchers and team members
to achieve results
Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender identity and
backgrounds
Able to work under minimal supervision
Self-motivated
