Role Purpose
The Marketing Officer for SSA plays a pivotal role in supporting the development and execution of marketing operations strategies across the African continent. This includes overseeing the implementation of marketing campaigns, managing marketing data, and ensuring that marketing operations are aligned with the company’s overall business objectives. The management of marketing finance operations and liaison with the finance functions.
Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:
Brand Stewardship and Reputation Management: Uphold the British Council’s brand integrity and elevate its reputation across Africa, establishing the organization as a trusted provider of high-quality English language testing, educational qualifications, and cultural exchange programs.
Audience Engagement and Relationship Building: Devise and execute strategic marketing campaigns that resonate with diverse African audiences, including students, professionals, educational institutions, and government bodies. Nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders to promote the British Council’s offerings and demonstrate its profound impact.
Digital Marketing and Channel Optimization: Harness the power of digital marketing channels, including social media, search engine optimization, and content marketing, to reach target audiences effectively and efficiently. Optimize the British Council’s website and digital platforms to deliver a seamless and engaging user experience.
Market Research and Data-Driven Insights: Conduct in-depth market research and analyze data to gain comprehensive insights into African audiences, market trends, and competitor activities. Utilize these insights to inform marketing strategies, campaign messaging, and channel selection.
Collaboration and Partnership Building: Collaborate seamlessly with the British Council’s global marketing team and local teams in Africa to ensure a cohesive and culturally sensitive brand message. Forge partnerships with key stakeholders, such as media organizations and educational institutions, to amplify the British Council’s reach and impact.
Marketing Finance Operations and Management: Oversee the financial aspects of marketing activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense management. Implement and maintain efficient financial processes to support marketing operations and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Role specific knowledge and experience:
Essential requirements:
Degree qualification in marketing or business
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
3+ years of experience in marketing operations
Strong understanding of marketing principles and practices
Experience with marketing data analysis
Proficient in marketing automation software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
Relevant professional accreditation eg. CIM, Melcrum, GCN, CIPR, WOMMA or equivalent
Experience working in the African market
Knowledge of African languages
Strong project management skills

Remuneration: 197,253.00 Gross Per Month
